SharePoint Online: Facebook Social Plugin

Finally got round to testing the Facebook social plugin for Office 365 Public Site blogs and at first glance it would appear Users are limits to signing in with one of the following accounts: Facebook, Yahoo, AOL and Hotmail.

Facebook Socal Plugin

However if you are like me and prefer to use your Windows Live account, well you can. To my shame and amusement, I’ve just found out that a Hotmail account is in fact interchangeable with Windows Live… Doh!

Perhaps Facebook will update the Facebook social plugin? If not I can feel a hack coming on…

NOTES 30/01/2014:

If like me you have set your Office 365 Public website to uses your company’s domain (e.g. www.sion.eu.com) then when it comes to managing posts you, will need to first sign-in using your https…public.sharepoint.com address then then switching to you custom domain to see the posts…

Update January 2015:

Starting January 2015, Microsoft is making changes to the SharePoint Online Public Website feature. Customers who currently use this feature will continue to have access to the feature for a minimum of two years after the changeover date of March 9, 2015. New customers who subscribe to Office 365 after the changeover date won’t have access to this feature. Moving forward, Office 365 customers will have access to industry-leading third-party offerings that will enable them to have a public website that provides a complete online solution and presence.
